KUALA LUMPUR: QSR BRANDS BHD [] earnings rose 34.6% to RM35.29'' million in the fourth quarter ended Dec 31, 2010 from RM26.22 million a year ago mainly due to its KFCH and Pizza Hut operations in Malaysia.
It said on Monday, Feb 21 revenue rose 10.1% to RM831.40 million from RM754.75 million a year ago while earnings per share were 12.82 sen compared with 9.41 sen. It declared an interim dividend of 4.5 sen less tax and single tier dividend of 3.5 sen totaling eight sen.
'The improved performance in the current quarter was primarily due to the higher sales from its KFC and Pizza Hut operations in Malaysia and the inclusion of a net surplus from revaluation of PROPERTIES [] of RM6.7 million,' it said.
For the financial year ended Dec 31, 2010, its net profit rose 21.2% to RM110.21 million from RM90.92 million. Revenue increased by 9.9% to RM3.035 billion from RM2.760 billion.
QSR said the group continued to expand its network to broaden customers reach where 12 new Pizza Hut outlets were opened in Malaysia in the year under review.
It introduced new products such as Golden Fortune Cheesy Crown Pizza, Ayam Masak Merah Pizza, Garlic Butter Chicken Pizza, Chunky Loaded Pizza, Fish King Pizza, Fish Prawn King Pizza, Meaty Deluxe Pizza, Extreme Cheesy 6 Pizza and Extreme Cheesy Lava 6 Pizza which drove transactions at the restaurants.
As for its Singapore operations, they were affected by increased competition in the country.

KFC Cambodia added three new outlets in the current year and are operating 10 outlets as at end 2010.'' It registered encouraging sales but its profitability was affected by high costs of local poultry products and imported raw materials.

KFCH generated better results with improved sales at its restaurants with a pre-tax profit of RM221.8 million as compared to prior year's RM190.0 million. This represented a 16.7% increase in year-on-year profitability.
