GURUN, KEDAH: Naza Automotive Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (NAM) which produces Peugeot and Kia vehicles for the Malaysian and export markets aims to reach production of 50,000 vehicles in three years.
Datuk Kamarulzaman Darus who is NAM's director of manufacturing said currently the NAM plant with a capacity of 55,000 units, produced 20,000 units of Peugeot and Kia vehicles per year.
Kamarulzaman said the investment to increase the present production would cost RM10 million for each 10,000 units produced.
The plant set up in 2004 with an RM500 million investment over 148 acres employs 827 local workers.
Kamarulzaman said currently there were also other car manufacturers in Asia and other parts of world talking to NAM on the possibility of colloboration to produce their vehicles.
