KUALA LUMPUR: The government expects the economy to grow at a slower pace in the second half of 2010 compared with the first half, said Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah.
He said on Monday, Sept 27 that Malaysia's gross domestic product (GDP) was expected to grow 6% to 7% on-year in the second half due to the weak global economy.
For the first half, Malaysia's GDP expanded 9.5% GDP growth.
As for the first half of 2011, it is expected to be slow, he said at the special ministerial session of the World Capital Markets Symposium.
'But please be mindful that we have initiatives in place. For example we have 19 projects in the National Key Economic Area (NKEA), with seven projects ready to take off, and another 12 about to take off,' Husni said.
