KUALA LUMPUR: Khazanah Nasional Bhd is venturing into emission-to-energy projects, carbon credit development and advisory services via a joint venture agreement with Camco International Ltd.
The government's investment agency said on Monday, Sept 27 its unit Payar Investments Ltd has signed a joint venture agreement with Camco to set up a Southeast Asian emission reduction company.
'The new JV will have an initial capital of up to US$30 million (RM92.7 million) to invest in the emission-to-energy market in Southeast Asia, utilising Khazanah's regional footprint and presence with Camco's know-how and its existing carbon development projects in SEA,' it said.
Khazanah would also invest ''1.86 million (RM9.1 million) into Camco by subscribing for 5% (post issuance) ordinary shares at a price of 20 pence per share.
Camco, which develops emission reduction and clean energy projects, is listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange. It has a 20-year track record in carbon project delivery with presence in the US, UK, Europe, China, Africa, Russia and SEA.
