Nikkei rises on Intel, commodities

TOKYO: Japan's Nikkei rose on Wednesday, helped by favourable US corporate earnings in the healthcare and tech sectors, while commodity shares gained on rising gold and oil prices.

The Nikkei rose 0.9 percent or 83.21 points to 9,524.24, while the broader Topix added 0.6 percent to 832.60.

Analysts said the Nikkei is expected to trade between 9,400 and 9,600 on Wednesday. ' Reuters
