Govt appoints Smartag for RFID Customs project

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has appointed Smartag Solutions Bhd as part of the security and trade facilitation system using radio frequency identification (RFID) for the Customs checkpoints throughout Malaysia.

It said on Tuesday, April 19 it was named to be part of the project by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) progress update conference.

'At this juncture, no memorandum of understanding or agreement has been signed in respect to the project. Further announcements on the progress of the project will be released in due course once the company receives further details on the project,' it said.
