KUALA LUMPUR: MALAYAN UNITED INDUSTRIES BHD [] (MUI)'' posted net profit of RM33.04 million in its third quarter ended Sept 30, 2010, compared with RM4.51 million a year ago.
MUI said on Monday, Nov 29 there was a reversal of impairment in an associate amounting to RM17.98 million.
Revenue was 2.7% lower at RM238.45 compared with RM245.09 million a year ago, Earnings per share were 1.63 sen compared with 0.23 sen.
MUI said the third quarter showed improved results at revenue of RM238.4 million and profit before tax of'' RM48.1 million compared with revenue of RM203.7 million and pre-tax profit in 2Q.
'The current quarter was mainly contributed by higher operating profit from retailing, insurance and hotels operations, higher exceptional gains and share of better results from associates,' it said.
