SC gets 10 new listing applications for Main Market in 3Q

KUALA LUMPUR: The Securities Commission received 10 new listing applications for the Main Market in the third quarter of 2010, which included two new foreign-based IPOs.

The SC said on Tuesday, Oct 19 this was an increase from eight listing applications received in the previous quarter. Six of the applications received in 3Q were companies with a potential market capitalisation of at least RM500 million each. ''

"A total of 18 new Main Market listings had been approved by the SC from January to September this year, already exceeding the 12 IPO approvals recorded in 2009," it said.

The SC also approved 10 Ringgit-denominated private debt securities (PDS) in the third quarter which involved the proposed raising of RM16.19 billion, up 54% from the RM10.51 billion approved in the second quarter of 2010.

The SC said 98.72% percent of licensing applications and 94% of the corporate proposals were processed within the relevant time charters. A total of 1,744 licensing applications were received in the third quarter.
