Bursa Malaysia 3Q10 net profit down 10% to RM27.7m

KUALA LUMPUR: BURSA MALAYSIA BHD []'s net profit for the 3Q ended Sept 30, 2010 fell 10% to RM27.7 million from RM30.75 million a year ago.

It said on Tuesday, Oct 19 Revenue for the quarter rose slightly to RM86.76 million from RM86.29 million in 2009. Earnings per share was 5.2 sen while net assets per share was RM1.52.

For the nine months ended Sept 30, its net profit rose to RM83.26 million from RM81.27 million on the back of revenue RM259.14 million.

Bursa said its equities trading revenue increased by 7% to RM40.7 million in 3Q, while daily average trading for on market trades and direct business trades was higher at RM1.48 billion from RM1.38 billion in 3Q09.

It said derivatives trading increased by 5% to RM9.6 million and total contracts traded in 3Q was 1.58 million, up from 1.51 million a year earlier.

Bursa said its stable revenue decreased by 11% to RM25.9 million primarily due to lower CDS fee of RM4.7 million charged to authorised depository agents in the previous corresponding period.

However, the decrease was offset by higher listing fees and issue fees as a result of an increase in IPOs, structured warrants and secondary issues, it said.
