FBM KLCI starts week on positive note

KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI started the week on a positive note when it opened higher on Monday, Oct 18 with lifted by gains at select blue chips.

At 9.05am, the benchmark index was up 4.77 points to 1,494.63. Gainers led losers by 130 to 34, while 108 counters traded unchanged. Volume was 91.37 million shares valued at RM61.59 million.

On Bursa Malaysia, PLANTATION []s stocks were among the early gainers as Batu Kawan jumped RM1.26 to RM16, Genting Plantations added 11 sen to RM8.48 and IOI Corp rose seven sen to RM5.87.

BHIC gained 14 sen to RM4.68, Bonia and HELP added nine sen each to RM1.88 and RM2.50, while Amway, Aeon Credit and Mah Sing were up six sen each to RM8.15, RM3.76 and RM1.93 respectively.

GW Plastics made a positive debut on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities, and was up four sen to 80 sen with 6.34 million shares done at 9.05am.

PLUS, which resumed trade this morning, fell four sen to RM4.42. Other decliners included Bursa, Nagamas, Voir, Cypark and Masterskill.

Karambunai was the most actively traded stock, and was up 3.5 sen to 21.5 with 51.3 million shares done.
