KUALA LUMPUR: MALAYSIAN AIRLINE SYSTEM BHD []'s (MAS) unit will introduce jet aircraft operations with a fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft operating out of the Main Terminal Building of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in 2011.
MAS said on Monday, Nov 8 that the jet aircraft was part of FlyFirefly's expansion of its network and operations starting Jan 15, 2011.
Phase 1 of the expansion plan, spanning 2011-2015, will bring into service up to 30 jet aircraft. There will be six aircraft operating by end 2011.
Firefly began its operations in 2007 and currently operates a fleet of 7 ATR 72-500 aircraft with an additional 3 ATR 72-500 aircraft by early 2011. It currently flies to 19 cities and operates 24 routes within Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore.
