KUALA LUMPUR: Hwang DBS Vickers Research said with Wall Street rising overnight ' key U.S. equity barometers were up between 1.4% and 1.7% at the closing bell ' it reckons the positive vibes would spill over to Asian stock markets on Tuesday, Sept 21.
In its market preview issued on Tuesday, it said the U.S. Federal Open Market Committee is scheduled to meet later Tuesday night.
While the U.S. policymakers are widely anticipated to keep the federal funds rate at near zero level for now, the focus will be on their rhetoric on matters like the U.S. economic conditions, inflation outlook, further possible stimulus measures, which could shape the consensus opinion on interest rate / currency markets expectations.
On the home front, Hwang DBS Vickers Research said there would be a lot of publicity on the government's Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) and its components of National Key Economic Areas (NKEA), the details of which will be displayed for public viewing on Tuesday.
'From a technical perspective, the benchmark FBM KLCI may regain its bullish momentum to pull away from the immediate support level of 1,465, possibly making its way towards the first resistance target of 1,490 ahead,' it said.
