KUALA LUMPUR: Axiata Group Bhd's unit Celcom Axiata Bhd is introducing the micro SIM card next month at all its branches and selected Blue Cube centres.
Devices in the market that currently use the micro SIM are the iPhone 4 and the iPad 3G.
In a statement on Sept 21, Celcom said the micro SIM measured 15mm in width and 12mm in height compared with the standard SIM card (25mm in width and 15mm in height).
Beginning Oct 1, Celcom customers can exchange their standard SIM card with a micro SIM for a nominal fee of RM10 at any Celcom branch and selected Blue Cube outlets. Customers subscribing to a new mobile broadband plan can also select a micro SIM instead of the standard SIM.
Celcom CEO Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly said with the arrival of devices that utilised a micro SIM, the company wanted to ensure that its customers had the best possible user experience, whatever device they may be using.
'We do not want anyone to miss out on enjoying all the advantages of Malaysia's No 1 mobile broadband network,' he said.
Celcom's mobile broadband plans are available from as low as RM38 a month for existing postpaid customers, while adhoc prepaid and postpaid users can get broadband access at only RM6 per day.
