Still room for investment in Perlis, says ruler

PADANG BESAR (Perlis): The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail said there was still room for investments in Perlis, but not many local residents realised it.

He said local residents should seize the opportunities available.

"What is important is that they have new ideas and innovation which can be practised in the state," he added.

The ruler cited an example of a company which recently opened a factory to process plastic into diesel.

The locals might not see these opportunities, but the effort made by the company proved that people outside the state saw the potential in Perlis, he said after a breaking of fast organised by the Perlis Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) at the Tasoh Lake Resort here on Sunday, Aug 15.

At the function, the Raja of Perlis, on behalf of MAIPs, received tithes, totalling RM178, 970, from Syarikat Padiberas Nasional Berhad (Bernas) and RM80,000 from Yayasan Harmoni.

Bernas was represented by its chairman Datuk Wira Syed Abdul Jabbar Shahabudin, while Yayasan Harmoni was represented by its executive director Radzuan Abdullah. ' Bernama
