RAM sees 2010 GDP at 7.2%

KUALA LUMPUR: RAM Holdings Bhd sees Malaysia's gross domestic product (GDP) expanding by 7.2% this year as the second half grows at a more moderate pace.

Its chief economist Dr Yeah Kim Leng said on Monday, Aug 9 that he expected the economy to have grown 8.8% in the second quarter. As for 2H, he expected it to expand in line with the potential output growth of 5% to 6%.

He also said he expected the ringgit to strengthen to RM3 versus the US dollar by year-end.
