KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI dipped 1.13 points to 1,359.32 at the mid-day break on Monday, Aug 9, dragged by losses at key blue chips including Public Bank, Genting and MMC Corp.
Losers beat gainers by 361 to 193, while 245 counters traded unchanged. Volume was 337.53 million shares valued at RM386.42 million.
Among the top losers this morning were rubber glove makers after Hwang DBS Vickers Research said demand could be normalising to lower levels as the flu outbreak is under control and customers are reducing inventory holding periods to one to two months

At the regional markets, Japan's Nikkei 225 fell -1% to 9,545.52, the Singapore Straits Times Index down -0.39% to 2,995.06 and the Hong Kong Hang Seng Index shed -0.03% to 21, 673.36.
Taiwan's Taiex Index added +0.82% to 8,028.51, the South Korean Kospi Index rose +0.11% to 1,785.78 while the Shanghai Composite Index was up +0.01% to 2,658.67.
At Bursa, among the glove makers, Supermax fell 15 sen to RM5.99, Kossan down 13 sen to RM3.68 and Top Glove 11 sen to RM6.13.
Notion Vtec continued sliding, and fell 17 sen to RM1.87; Eng Teknologi 15 sen to RM1.70, Malaysia Smelting Corp 14 sen to RM3.94, Tomypak 12 sen to RM3.26 while Lafarge Malayan Cement and Tanjung Offshore fell 10 sen each to RM7.02 and RM1.60.
Public Bank and Genting lost six sen each to RM11.96 and RM7.85, Genting Malaysia down three sen to RM2.85 while Telekom Malaysia and MMC Corp lost two sen each to RM3.37 and RM2.58.
Nestle'' was the top gainer and rose 70 sen to RM39.20; Mudajaya added 39 sen to RM4.39, Tan Chong 22 sen to RM5.12, MAHB 21 sen to RM5.50 while Kulim and EPIC added 19 sen each to RM8.15 and RM2.30.
Newly-listed SIG Gas Bhd was the most actively traded counter with 30.44 million shares done. The stock added 4.5 sen to 62.5 sen.
Other actives included Sinotop, Timecom, SAAG, Mudajaya, Scomi and Talam.
