KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI declined at mid-morning on Monday, Aug 9, in line with the overall weaker sentiment at key regional markets following the larger-than-expected drop in July payrolls in the US.
At 10am, the FBM KLCI shed 0.10 of a point to 1,360.35. Gainers led losers by 178 to 166, while 172 counters traded unchanged. Volume was 135.6 million shares valued at RM107.86 million.
Among the major losers on Bursa Malaysia, Supermax fell 13 sen to RM6.01, Delloyd 11 sen to RM2.81, Top Glove and Notion Vtec fell 10 sen each to RM6.14 and RM1.94 while Cycle & Carriage and Hai-O lost seven each to RM5.81 and RM3.27.
Perduren slipped six sen to RM1, PJBumi down 5.5 sen to 26.5 sen while MMC Corp lost five sen to RM2.55.
Among the top gainers, Nestle added 80 sen to RM39.30, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd up 18 sen to RM5.47, Tan Chong and EPIC added 15 sen each to RM5.05 and RM2.26, while Mudajaya rose 13 sen to RM4.13.
Petronas Dagangan was up 10 sen to RM10.52, Kulim nine sen to RM8.05 while Keck Seng gained eight sen to RM5.97.
Newly-listed SIG Gases Bhd was the most actively traded counter this morning. The stock was up 5.5 sen to 63.5 sen with 24.77 million shares.
Other actives included Sinotop, Timecom, LCL Corp, SAAG, Scomi and Lion Diversified.
At the regional markets, Japan's Nikkei 225 fell 1.11% to 9,535.23, Singapore's Straits Times Index down 0.39% to 2,995.06, the Shanghai Composite Index down 0.11% to 2,655.46 while Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index opened 0.2% lower at 21,645.65.
Meanwhile, Taiwan's Taiex rose 0.65% to 8,015.38 while the South Korean Kospi added 0.13% to 1,786.18.
