Nikkei falls after Fed sours outlook

TOKYO: The Nikkei stock average fell on Thursday, giving up some of the gains made the previous day on short-covering, in the wake of losses on Wall Street after the Federal Reserve cut its forecasts for U.S. economic growth.

The benchmark Nikkei shed 0.8 percent to 9,556.58, while the broader Topix lost 0.7 percent to 822.88. ' Reuters
