KUALA LUMPUR: BERJAYA SPORTS TOTO BHD [] net profit for the third quarter ended Jan 31, 2011 rose 17.4% to RM114.87 million from RM97.85 million a year ago, driven by an increase in revenue, mainly contributed by Berjaya Philippines Inc. group.
Revenue for the quarter rose slightly to RM851.17 million from RM850.76 million. Earnings per share was 8.59 sen, while net assets per share was 32 sen.
BJToto declared a third interim single tier exempt dividend of 6 sen per share in respect of the financial year ending April 30, 2011.
For the nine months ended Jan 31, BJToto's net profit fell 18.9% to RM243.91 million from RM300.84 million a year earlier, mainly due to the increase in Pool Betting Duty from 6% to 8% with effect from June 1, 2010 coupled with higher prize payout in the period under review.
Its revenue for the nine-month period dropped a marginal 0.1% to RM2.53 billion.
BJToto said on Tuesday, March 15 that it was optimistic that its performance for the remaining quarter would remain satisfactory.
