FBM KLCI breaches 1,440-point level

KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI breached the 1,440-point level in early trade on Thursday, Sept 2, in line with the gains at key regional markets following the strong overnight close at Wall Street.

At 9.05am, the benchmark index was up 9.16 points to 1,441.12, its highest level since Jan 18, 2008. Gainers beat losers by 159 to 28, while 68 counters traded unchanged. Volume was 27.68 million shares valued at RM41.89 million.

Among the top gainers in early trade was BHIC that added 43 sen to RM4.64, Nestle and KFCH up 20 sen each to RM40.30 and RM11.38, APM Automotive up 18 sen to RM4.49 and Genting up 14 sen to RM9.53.

AMMB was up 11 sen to RM5.91, Proton, PLUS and Naim added 10 sen each to RM4.70, RM4.24 and RM3.60, while CIMB added nine sen to RM7.89.
