Banks lift KLCI, broader market cautious

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank stocks lifted the FBM KLCI in late morning trade on Monday, Sept 1 but the broader market showed some cautiousness among investors especially after the strong run-up in the KLCI in August.

At 11.21am, the FBM KLCI was up 10.82 points to 1,433.31. Turnover was 383.59 million shares valued at RM767 million. There were 246 gainers, 313 losers and 248 stocks unchanged.

AMMB and Maybank rose 14 sen each to RM5.80 and RM8.35 while CIMB inched up four sen to RM7.84.

Power giant Tenaga added 16 sen to RM9.02.
