REDtone targets RM26m broadband revenue for FY12

KUALA LUMPUR: REDTONE INTERNATIONAL BHD [] targets to double its broadband revenue to between RM26 million and RM27 million for the financial year ending May 31, 2012 by focusing on the corporate sector and the SMEs and SMIs.

Group CEO Lau Bik Soon said on Tuesday, July 12 there were huge opportunities especially in the SME / SMI segment for the company to tap which would enable it to double its broadband revenue.

REDtone is one of nine companies slated to get a 20MHz block of the 2.6GHz spectrum.

'The SME / SMI market is underserved in broadband and data access services and we are currently doing all we can to serve this segment by using a suite of last-mile wired and wireless technologies. While we are ramping up our rollout to businesses in this sector, we will be able to do a lot more if we have a licensed spectrum.

'There is only so much that we can do right now. That is why we hope that the authorities will issue REDtone the licence for the 4G LTE (long-term evolution) spectrum soon,' he said, REDtone had submitted its detailed business plan for LTE network rollout to MCMC.
