BCorp, Posco eye engineering, construction projects

KUALA LUMPUR: Berjaya Corp Bhd is teaming up with South Korea's Posco Engineering & CONSTRUCTION [] Co. Ltd to look into collaborating in engineering, construction, and development projects.

BCorp said on Wednesday, July 13 under this MoU, both companies would look into possible opportunities for joint collaboration in property development and infrastructure construction, as well as new business areas such as renewable energy and petrochemical plants.

Posco would share their expertise in energy, chemical and water treatment plants and BCorp would assist in prospective property development businesses in Malaysia and other overseas regions especially in Vietnam.

Both companies signed the MoU in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday. Among those present were BCorp chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan, while Posco was represented by president and CEO Chung Dong-Hwa.

Tan said BCorp was already working with Posco, which would soon be a shareholder and the main contractor for the first phase of Berjaya Jeju Resort in South Korea. The resort-type residential and commercial project is being developed by BERJAYA LAND BHD [].

'Today's occasion is another opportunity for Berjaya and Posco E&C to develop another mutually beneficial partnership and I am truly excited to explore new business opportunities together moving forward,' said Tan.
