Nikkei rises after Greece worries ease, profit-taking may emerge

TOKYO: The Nikkei average jumped on Tuesday, tracking gains in Wall Street shares on the back of signs of progress in Greek debt's rollover plan and on hopes that the Greek parliament will pass an austerity plan, though the index is seen as susceptible to profit-taking near the top-end of its well-worn range.

The benchmark Nikkei rose 1.0 percent to 9,674.47, a stone's throw from its recent three-week peak near 9,700, while the broader Topix index gained 0.9 percent to 833.06. ' Reuters
