TOKYO: The Nikkei stock average rose to a fresh seven-week peak on Thursday but was stalling near resistance at its 200-day moving average and could lose momentum if more profit-taking emerges around that level.
The benchmark Nikkei was up 0.3 percent at 9,827.60, above the 9,800 mark many market players have regarded as the top end of its core range since the March 11 earthquake but below its 200-day moving average of 9,859.
The broader Topix rose 0.4 percent to 847.42. ' Reuters
