JASIN: The Barisan Nasional campaigns for both the Merlimau and Kerdau state seats in Melaka and Pahang are receiving very good response from all communities, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said on Monday, Feb 28.
Their support was apparent from statements that they made and from their'' "body language", he said of voters in the two constituencies which will hold by-elections simultaneously on March 6.
"We can feel the positive sentiment," Muhyiddin told reporters here.
Roslan Ahmad, 44, of Barisan Nasional is in a straight fight against PAS candidate Yuhaizad Abdullah, 38, in the Merlimau by-election which follows the death of BN assemblyman Datuk Mohamad Hidhir Abu Hassan, 56, last Jan 20.
In Kerdau, Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad, 44, is defending the seat against PAS'' candidate Hassanuddin Salim, 43, following the death of BN assemblyman Datuk Zaharuddin Abu Kassim, 63, on Feb 12, also of a heart attack. - Bernama
