KUALA LUMPUR: KYM HOLDINGS BHD [] has accepted a RM585,911 contract from Vale Malaysia Manufacturing Sdn Bhd to build a jetty which will be part of the massive proposed iron ore distribution centre and pellet plant at Teluk Rubiah, Perak.
KYM said on Monday, Dec 13 it had received a letter dated Dec 10 from Vale Malaysia, instructing KYM to commence as the project coordinator to acquire the land to build the 2.5km jetty.
The services are expected to be completed within four months.
'The above approvals are necessary before VMMSB can commence with the CONSTRUCTION [] of their proposed development. The jetty when completed will be able to receive very large ore carriers with shipping capacity of up to 400,000 tonnes of iron ore,' it said.
