Blue chips slip in late morning, Genting weighs

KUALA LUMPUR: Blue chips on Bursa Malaysia slipped in late morning on Tuesday, Nov 2, in line with key markets with GENTING BHD [] the main drag on the 30-stock FBM KLCI.

At 11.12am, the KLCI was down 3.14 points to 1,506.52. Turnover was 449.08 million shares valued at RM533.44 million. There were 214 gainers, 342 losers and 301 stocks unchanged.

Genting fell 10 sen to RM10.46 in active trade, with 14.4 million shares done as investors took profit.

Quality was the top loser, down 28 sen to RM1.20 but with only 100 shares done. Nestle and Far East shed 20 sen each to RM43.50 and RM6.70 in thin trade.

Changhuat, which faces suspension on Nov 9, fell 15 sen to RM1.05.

Meanwhile, Ho Wah Genting rose two sen to 38 sen and it was the most active with 37.4 million shares done. The warrants added 1.5 sen to 26 sen.

Kulim was the top gainer, up 32 sen to RM10.48. Masteel-WA, which was listed on Tuesday, added 15 sen to 36.5 sen. Sunrise continued to see positive response from investors over its proposed property projects, rising nine sen to RM2.51.
