KUALA LUMPUR: Maybank Investment Bank Bhd (Maybank IB) launched a new stockbroking service targeted at investors who wish to increase exposure to stockmarket with lower risk appetites and desire of Shariah-compliant opportunities.
Called 'H.O.T Broking,' the service gives investors a selection of stocks that have been analysed according to Shariah principles, These principles are pivoted on the avoidance of interest-based activities, gambling, gaming and activities non-permissible under Shariah.
Maybank President and CEO Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar said on Mondya, July 5 the idea of the new service proposed by Maybank IB was to address Bursa Malaysia's view that many investors especially those under the age of 40 years do not explore equity investments due to higher risk fears and uncertainty of what stocks to choose.
"H.O.T here stands for honest, open and transparent which represents the key attributes of our service," he said at the launch on Monday, July 5.
Wahid said the bank was committed to support the objective of Malaysia as a major hub for international Islamic finance.
