FBM KLCI extends losses for sixth day running

At 9.05am, the benchmark index fell 1.95 points to 1,305.49 points, dragged by losses at key blue chips including Tenaga, Maybank and Genting Malaysia.

Trading on Bursa Malaysia is expected to remain cautious after stocks on Wall Street fell last Friday to close out their worst week in two months as disappointing jobs data joined other recent evidence pointing to a tepid economic recovery.

The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 46.05 points, or 0.47%, to 9,686.48 points. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 4.79 points, or 0.47%, to 1,022.58 points. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 9.57 points, or 0.46%, to 2,091.79 points.

At Bursa Malaysia, the major losers this morning were BAT that fell 12 sen to RM44.08, Tenaga five sen to RM8.35, RHB Capital, Genting Malaysia and Maybank down four sen each to RM5.81, RM.58 and RM7.53 respectively, while Genting lost two sen to RM7.23.

Early gainers included APM Automotive, KFCH, Aeon, CIMB, Titan and Tanjong.
