Allianz offering customised products for climate change

KUALA LUMPUR: Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Bhd (AGIC) plans to introduce special-customised products to help mitigate the climate change in the Malaysian market, said its chief executive officer Ng Hang Ming said.

He said Allianz Group, at present, had developed more than 50 products and services related to green and climate change.

"We are ready to introduce the products in the Malaysian market. We can tap and leverage on Allianz Group's expertise and services to introduce special-customised products related to climate change in the country going
forward," he told reporters on Monday, July 5.

On the company's outlook, Ng said it expected to record a single digit growth this year in line with the improved economic environment.

Allianz General Insurance recorded RM1.2 billion in gross written premiums last year.

Meanwhile, Karsten Loeffler, Head of Operations and Projects at Allianz Climate Solution said climate change was simultaneously a threat and a business opportunity to the financial services industry.

He said risk coverage of new and emerging technologies played an important role for future development.

"Insurers must be aware to charge adequate premiums due to an increasing occurence of natural catastrophes," he said. - Bernama
