KUALA LUMPUR: The Consumer Price Index rose 3.5% year-on-year in June to 103.2 from 99.7 a year ago due mainly to increases in all the major indices.
Month-on-month, the CPI rose by 0.3% in June.
In statement Wednesday, July 20, the Department of Statistics said the CPI for the six months ended June 30 rose 3% year-on-year to 102.5 from 99.5 a year earlier.
It said the index for food and non-alcoholic beverages and non-food for June showed increases of 4.7% and 3% respectively as compared to a year earlier.
For the six months ended June 30, the index for food and non-alcoholic beverages and non-food increased by 4.5% and 2.4%t respectively, it said.
Compared to the previous month, the index for food and non-alcoholic beverages and non-food also recorded increases by 0.7 and 0.1 respectively, it said.
