KUALA LUMPUR: Shares of MALAYAN FLOUR MILLS BHD [] (MFM) climbed in early trade on Wednesday, May 25 after it reported a strong set of earnings in the first quarter ended March 31, 2011 (1QFY11) though it was cautious about the outlook.
At 9.57am, it was up 47 sen to RM6.91 with 74,000 shares done.
The FBM KLCI rose 2.88 points to 1,535.00. Turnover was 142.85 million shares done valued at RM233.79 million. There were 164 gainers, 193 losers and 198 stocks unchanged.
MFM reported the 1QFY11 net profit at RM29.8 million, up 67.7%. However, it was concerned about the volatile commodity prices due to the unpredictable weather and was bracing for a challenging year.
