KUALA LUMPUR: Khazanah Nasional has been approached to subscribe for a stake in commodities giant Glencore's upcoming initial public offer, the fund's managing director Azman Mokhtar said on Wednesday, April 13.
Khazanah is at least the second Malaysian firm approached by Glencore to take up a stake in the IPO with the other being the Employees Provident Fund.
Azman said no decision has yet been made on whether it will subscribe to Glencore's shares as Khazanah was "less of a trading or portfolio house".
"We may or may not participate," Azman said.
Khazanah's executive director of investments Mohammed Rashdan Yusof said "no decision has been made."
"We leave our options open at this stage," Rashdan said.
Glencore is expected to kick off the much-anticipated listing this week in what could be the largest to-date in London and one of the largest in Europe. - Reuters
