Nikkei opens slightly lower

TOKYO: Japan's Nikkei was marginally lower on Monday, March 28 with a weak close for Nikkei futures in Chicago at the end of last week offsetting any optimism from gains on Wall Street.

Nikkei futures last traded at 9,400 in Chicago, 50 points lower the close in Osaka.

The benchmark Nikkei was down 0.2 percent, or 20.42 points, at 9,515.71. The broader Topix index was flat at 857.42.

In Seoul, shares opened nearly flat on Monday after two consecutive sessions of gains, with steelmakers and airlines like POSCO and Korean Air Line outperforming, but falls in automakers weighed.

The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) was down 0.08 percent at 2,052.30 points as of 0005 GMT. - Reuters
