KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI managed to stay in positive at the close of trade on Monday, Oct 25, despite what appeared to be some late profit taking towards the end of the afternoon session.
At 5pm, the index was up 0.80 points to 1,491.44. Market breadth was generally positive with gainers outpacing losers by 511 to 268, while 310 counters traded unchanged. Volume was 1.13 billion shares valued at RM1.47 billion.
PLANTATION [] stocks gained on Bursa Malaysia as the price of crude palm oil futures firmed up.
Among them, United Plantations added 60 sen to RM17, KL Kepong rose 44 sen to RM18.94, Negri Sembilan Oil Palms added 30 sen to RM5.30, Boustead up 29 sen to RM5.95 and Tradewinds Plantation rose 22 sen to RM2.39.
Other gainers were TSH up 40 sen to RM2.79, Bursa up 38 sen to RM8.62, Rimbunan Sawit added 23 sen to RM1.90 and QSR added 22 sen to RM5.43.
Among the decliners, Nestl'' fell 40 sen to RM43.80, DiGi lost 26 sen to RM24.54, Panasonic fell 18 sen to RM18.32, Lafarge Malayan Cement down 15 sen to RM7.95, Malaysia Smelting Corp and BAT fell 12 sen each to RM4.80 and RM46.68 respectively, JT International down 11 sen to RM5.79 and RHB Capital lost 10 sen to RM7.85.
Karambunai was the most actively traded counter with 84.95 million shares done. The stock was unchanged at 24 sen. Other actives included Ho Wah Genting, PLUS, Malton, SIG Gases and Daya.
