KUALA LUMPUR: Share prices here closed easier in thin trading on Monday, June 28.
At 5pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia (FBM) KUALA LUMPUR COMPOSITE INDEX [] shed 0.91 of a point to 1,325.54 points, after moving between 1,323.62 points and 1,326.06 points.
"The benchmark index was traded in a narrow range as worries over euro zone debt problems and a potential US economic slowdown kept investors from making aggressive bets on equities market," a dealer said.
He said losses on the local bourse were limited by mid-year window dressing activities but volume remained thin.
The Finance Index declined 8.82 points to 11,937.57 points and the PLANTATION [] Index dropped 18.35 points to 6,278.30 points, but the INDUSTRIAL INDEX [] increased 1.36 points to 2,658.13 points.
The FBM Emas Index dipped 13.65 points to 8,942.40 points, the FBM70 [] fell 24.97 points to 8,930.73 points and the FBM Ace Index dwindled 32.72 points to 3,834.18 points.
Losers beat gainers by 340 to 277 while 241 counters were flat, 505 untraded and 29 others suspended.
Total volume decreased to 535.336 million shares worth RM778.393 million from 568.320 million shares valued at RM922.946 million last Friday. ' Bernama
