KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia closed lower on Tuesday, June 29 as market sentiment turned negative on renewed economic concerns and the sharp fall in China's stocks, dealers said.
The key FBM KLCI fell 5.7 points to close at 1,319.84, after opening 0.66 point higher at 1,326.20 points. During the session, the index was traded between an intra-day low of 1,315.82 points and an intra-day high of 1,331.09 points.
A dealer said stocks would continue to move within a tight range on lack of market-sensitive news. "Profit-taking among heavyweights like Genting, MISC, Sime Darby and MMC Corp also further dragged down the market," he said.
The Finance Index fell 31.73 points to 11,905.84 points, PLANTATION [] Index dropped 28.83 points to 6,249.47 points and the INDUSTRIAL INDEX [] dipped 18.05 points to 2,640.08 points.
The FBM Emas Index declined 48.02 points to 8,894.38 points, FBM70 [] slipped 45.56 points to 8,885.17 points and the FBM Ace Index fell 50.98 points to 3,783.20 points.
Losers outnumbered gainers by 514 to 175 while 252 counters were flat, 424 untraded and 27 others suspended. Total volume, however, increased to 741.319 million shares worth RM1.059 billion from 535.336 million shares worth RM778.393 million on Monday. ' Bernama
