Ahmad Hizzad appointed Labuan FSA director general

KUALA LUMPUR: The Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) announced the appointment of Ahmad Hizzad Baharuddin as its new Director-General (DG) for a three-year term, with effect from Oct 3, 2011.

In a statement Thursday, Oct 6, Labuan FSA said the appointment had been approved by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also Finance Minister.

Ahmad Hizzad takes over from Datuk Azizan Abdul Rahman who retired last month.

Labuan FSA said prior to this appointment, Ahmad Hizzad was the director of Bank Negara Malaysia's Islamic Banking and Takaful Department.

He has been with the central bank since 1986, in several senior positions in the areas of financial sector development, regulation and supervision, in both the Islamic and conventional financial system, it said.

'Ahmad Hizzad was directly involved in the formulation and implementation of the Financial Sector Masterplan of 2001-2010, and had served the Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority as a Director from 1996 -1999,' it said.

Ahmad Hizzad holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from St. Louis University, Missouri, United States of America.
