Green Packet says Packet One confident of getting 450,000 subscribers this year

KUALA LUMPUR: GREEN PACKET BHD [] said its 4G operator Packet One was confident of getting 450,000 subscribers this year while it expanded its base stations to more than 1,600 sites to cover 55% of the population nationwide this year.

Its chief executive officer CC Puan said on Wednesday, Feb 16 that he expected some short-term erosion of P1's average revenue per user (ARPU) due to the rising competition and lower price point in the'' nomadic segment that P1 planned to grow.

However, he gave an assurance the company had strategies in place to ensure a strong ARPU over the long-term.

During the fourth quarter of 2010, P1 achieved the highest subscriber surge in its history of 56,000 while maintaining a better than industry churn rate of 4%. As of Dec 31, 2010, the total number of subscribers was 274,000.
