KUALA LUMPUR: Citibank customers can use their Citicard at the 17 Malaysian electronic payment system (MEPS) member banks' automated teller machines (ATMs) nationwide with effective from Wednesday, Feb 16.
Citibank said the customers now had access to the more than 10,000 ATMs nationwide and covering 2,000 locations nationwide. The services available to all Citibank customers include cash withdrawals and balance inquiries.
'The bank is also working towards rolling out phase two of this programme in the second quarter of 2011. Phase 2 will enable customers to conduct their loan repayments which include paying their credit card bills and home loans, as well as inter-bank ATM funds transfers to the 17 MEPS' member banks,' it said.
Citibank Bhd head of consumer markets Fabio Fontainha said the bank had commenced the year by giving customers increased access to cash and added convenience to conduct banking transactions.
'By having access to MEPS' Shared ATM Network, our wider distribution network will give our customers a seamless experience, reflecting our commitment in putting customers first,' she said.
The latest is in addition to the available 1.2 million Citibank and Visa Plus ATMs in over 100 countries, which provides clients with added convenience, flexibility and access in Malaysia and globally.
In December 2010, Citibank signed an agreement with Malaysian Electronic Payment System Sdn Bhd (MEPS).
In 2005, Citibank became the first foreign bank in Malaysia to gain complete access to the MEPS Interbank GIRO.
