KUALA LUMPUR: The industrial production index (IPI) in November 2010 increased by 5.1% from a year ago, underpinned by the increases in manufacturing, mining and electricity.
The Statistics Department said on Monday, Jan 10 that when compared with October, the IPI was down 3.7%. For January to November, the IPI was up 7.8% when compared with the previous corresponding period.
It also said the IPI in October was revised 3.1% on-year.
The department said the manufacturing output in November 2010 increased 6.5% as against November 2009. Output for October 2010 increased by 4.7% (revised) as compared with a year ago.
"As compared with the preceding month, the output for November 2010 decreased by 3.8%," it said.
The department said manufacturing growth for January-November increased by 11.3% from the previous corresponding period.
