MMC: No indication from govt on PLUS acquisition plan

KUALA LUMPUR: MMC Corp Bhd said it has not received any indication from government on its proposal to acquire PLUS Expressways.

It said on Monday, Jan 10 that it had not received any indication to acquire the country's largest tolled road operatot via the acquisition of the UEM Group Bhd.

"We will make the relevant announcement to Bursa Malaysia as and when there is a material development in relation to this proposal," it said.

On Oct 4 last year, MMC said it was continuously reviewing investment opportunities and endeavors to participate in any viable opportunities identified and/or offered in order to enhance shareholders value.

MMC had then said it had submitted a preliminary proposal to the government to acquire the UEM Group but it had not'' received any indication on its proposal as yet.

MMC had also said then it would lead a consortium for the proposed acquisition but it had not approached Employees Provident Fund and/or Permodalan Nasional Berhad to be its partners.
