GAB appoints Yap Swee Leng as marketing director

PETALING JAYA: Guinness Anchor Berhad (GAB) has appointed Yap Swee Leng as its new marketing director, replacing Mark Jenner.

As its marketing director, Yap would be responsible for steering GAB's portfolio of brands led by Tiger, Guinness, Heineken and Anchor.

In a statement Monday, Dec 20, GAB managing director Charles Ireland said Yap had been with GAB for more than a decade and consistently delivered a high level of performance.

'Her depth of marketing experience, understanding of the commercial aspects of the business, proven leadership skills and focus on delivering results are qualities that make her an asset to our business, he said.

He said Yap started her career in GAB as a Senior Brand Manager for Heineken in 1998 and progressed rapidly through the company in a series of key positions - marketing manager for Heineken and senior marketing manager for GAB's premium segment, comprising the Guinness & Heineken brands.

This was followed by stint as the regional sales manager for the Modern On Trade channel in the central region and more recently as the national key account manager.

Yap was senior brand manager with Malaysian Tobacco Company (MTC) from 1995 to 1998 and with British American Tobacco as brand manager for Myanmar and Cambodia in 1994.

Yap holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the National University of Singapore, and began her career in 1988 with Nestle (Singapore) Pte Ltd.
