KUALA LUMPUR: Deutsche Bank (Malaysia) Bhd (DBMB), a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank AG, has launched an online zakat ("Islamic tithe") settlement solution in Malaysia, which leverages on the group's web-based platform, db direct Internet.
In a statement on Monday, June 14, DBMB said it was the first foreign bank to provide an end-to-end Islamic tithe collection solution which was syariah-compliant to Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS), a state body governing the collection of Islamic tax, and disbursement of zakat funds.
It said the online zakat settlement solution was its latest offering to complement its suite of Islamic banking solutions.
DBMB said leveraging on DBMB's online zakat settlement solution, corporate clients could now send and approve their staff zakat deductions where details of the zakat payments would be shared online with LZS.
It said these zakat deductions and settlements could now be processed as part of the corporates' overall staff payroll and claim process effected through its suite of cash management solutions.
