Maybank Investment Bank Bhd head of retail research and chief chartist Lee Cheng Hooi, however, in a note to clients on Monday said the local market had made a significant "Flat" and "Engulfing Bearish pattern" high at 1,349.92 in May.

He said that tactically, a minor low at 1,243.86 was seen after that but the tone for world markets and FBM
KLCI was not entirely steady just yet.

"We advise clients to sell and liquidate their shares as the longer-term outlook and trend for the FBM KLCI is down on the daily chart.

"We believe that the European sovereign debt crises will persist and problems there in Europe would come back to haunt investors in the longer run," he said.
