Malaysia must prep for a more connected global market, says Nor Yakcop

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has to prepare itself for a more interconnected global market, which will be led by China, India and ASEAN countries, said minister in the prime minister's department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop.

"In the tenth Malaysia Plan, we recognise that Malaysia cannot insulate itself from global developments, be it in terms of global economic cycles, greater competition or higher commodity prices, 'said Yakcop in his opening address for the 2011 Khazanah Megatrends Forum on Monday, Sept 26.

He added that the country needed to prepare for fluctuations or shocks to the economy by being flexible in the determination of the nations projects.

The theme for this year's Khazanah Megatrends Forum is 'Uncertainty as Normality: Navigating through complex interconnection".

The forum ends tomorrow.
