Petronas inks gas supply deals from Kebabangan

KUALA LUMPUR: Petroliam Nasional Bhd has signed two gas sales agreements governing the supply of natural gas from the Kebabangan cluster production sharing contract (KBBC PSC) area off Sabah.

It said on Tuesday, July 26 the two agreements cover the supply of up to 750 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas to both customer sectors.

The first deal was signed between Petronas and KBBC PSC contractors Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, Shell Energy Asia Ltd and ConocoPhillips Sabah Gas Ltd.

Under the agreement, Petronas will purchase gas from the PSC contractors and will act as aggregator that supplies the gas to customers in Sabah.

The second agreement will see Petronas and the PSC contractors supplying gas as joint sellers to MLNG Dua Sdn Bhd at the Petronas'' LNG Complex in Bintulu.

Under the agreements, Petronas said deliveries were expected to start in the second half of 2014 via the Sabah Oil and Gas Terminal and the Sabah Sarawak Gas Pipeline facilities owned and operated by Petronas Carigali.

Petronas Carigali holds a 40% equity interest in KBBC PSC while its two partners each hold 30%. The KBBC PSC is operated by the Kebabangan Petroleum Operating Company Sdn Bhd.
