KUALA LUMPUR: The project contract for the RM2.6 billion Line 17 monorail project in Sao Paulo, Brazil that was awarded to SCOMI ENGINEERING BHD [] and its consortium partners has yet to be finalised.
In a clarification to Bursa Malaysia Securities on Tuesday, June 14, Scomi Engineering said that although the Sao Paulo Metropolitan Company in Brazil had published that the tender has been awarded to the Consortium, the project contract has not been finalised.
Furthermore, the confidentiality conditions stipulated in the tender agreement require the written consent of the client prior to disclosure of matters pertaining to the tender, it said.
'As such, further information would only be available upon (i) finalisation of the project contract; and (ii) the consent of the Sao Paulo Metropolitan Company.
'The company will make the appropriate announcement to Bursa Malaysia as and when there is a material development in relation to the project,' said Scomi Engineering.
On June 3, Scomi Engineering had announced that the monorail project had been awarded to the consortium which consists of the company, Andrade Gutierrez S.A. (AG Group), CR Almeida S.A. Engenharia de Obras and Montagens e Projetos Especiais SA (MPE).
It said the project would cover the design works, manufacture, supply and implementation of the monorail system for the 18-km monorail Line 17, or the Gold Metro of S''o Paulo.
Scomi said the project was expected start in July this year and be completed in 42 months.
