Hubline 2Q net profit rises to RM4.74m

KUALA LUMPUR: HUBLINE BHD [] net profit for the second quarter ended March 31, 2011 rose to RM4.74 million from RM1.16 million a year earlier, due mainly to increase in shipping and shipping-related revenue.

Revenue rose to RM164.52 million from RM148.84 million.

Earnings per share was 0.26 sen while net assets per share was 31 sen.

For the six months ended March 31, Hubline's net profit surged to RM14.18 million from RM2.56 million on the back of revenue RM316.76 million.

Commenting on its prospects on Monday, May 30, Hubline said the general outlook for both the container shipping business and dry-bulk markets was expected to be challenging in view of the uncertainty in the global economy.

'The Board and the management have taken steps to contain cost and to rationalise the services to minimize the impact of the global economic slowdown,' it said.
